About Alina Makinson
I am a San Diego native and in 2006 I graduated from the Poway Academy of Hair Design. Immediately following my graduation, I was an assistant for L’Oreal Professional educator Carmel Panvino.
I began working at Hip Hair Salon in 2007 which also evolved into a management position. In 2009 I had an opportunity to purchase the business. Shortly after the acquisition, I also went to Barber school and received my barber license in the State of California.
I’m aware of and sensitive to the challenges of color and advanced design styles and can provide professional solutions to make you look fabulous and exceed your expectations! This includes specializing in men’s haircuts and other barbering services. Extensions of all types are also a specialty for me.

Hip Hair! Ive been going here for haircuts for over 7 years. Alina and her crew are great at giving you what you want and making it fun at the same time. On the small chance you have to wait for a chair, you can enjoy a cold complimentary brew from the fridge. I always walk out feeling like a “new man”. Great stylists, great people!
